not sure if this is a bug or a feature…
when you hit ESC to cancel a dialog for property entry it puts a blank value (null string?) into the property instead of retaining the original value.
note the original value is populated into the dialog… just it is erased after canceling.

Unfortunately, I fear that this is a feature.
It is currently the only (highly non-intuitive) way to set null values
for certain properties. This is often a source of confusion for new
designers, as indicated by questions like “How can I get a basic piece
with no image?”
