Separating module Toolbar/Chat from the Main Map

Any module can have a separate main map window.

To achieve this, go to Preferences* and find the following field on the General tab:

Uncheck the box, close the Preferences window and restart the module.
Note - in this mode, you show & hide the map window via your operating system controls, just as you can for any of the other module windows.

*Preferences is accessed from the File menu or, on MacOS, from the Settings option on the application menu.

@marktb1961 I’m not finding a way to turn this separate map off in the Flying Colors 2.6.2 module

I’ve ticked the box and restarted the module
I’ve unticked remember main window size between sessions in the General Preferences

Also, I’m think the Flying Colors module needs labels on the ships… often notes on particular ships.

Does it make any difference if you use 2.6.1?

2.6.1 works fine, map displays normally, and I presume can detach if desired

Yes that’s right. “v2.6.2” is identical except for the small map button that another user implemented for their own preference. However it unfortunately forces a detached map that can’t be undone when using the module.

well that is exceptionally unuseful… why take away an option?
Personally I hate the separate map.

Because I did not know that the preference to change the Map/board (the wording is very cryptic) was there. I made the change so my friends and I could use 2 or 3 monitors. You don’t like 2.6.2 use 2.6.1, simple enough. FYI, Marktb removed my comment explaining what I did. I didn’t take away your option, that is just how the program works if you uncheck the box!

This is incorrect and probably a mis-understanding about where comments on file uploads go. You had no comment on the module page itself, as a history compare will show. However, I find this on the file upload page.

If you want information on the module page, you have to edit it into the module page itself - usually in the Comments section - which is what I did afterwards to explain your change.
