Start Up Query re VASSAL 3.1.19

I have just installed VASSAL 3.1.19 along with VASL 5.9.2 I am brand new to VASSAL and am just trying to learn about it.

When I double click on my desktop VASSAL icon the VASSAL menu page comes up. Then I double click on VASL 5.9.2 and the VASL Welcome menu comes up. However, if I put my cursor back onto the VASSAL menu page the cursor is still spinning. I can Start New Game Offline and then select a Board(s). Still the cursor spins if I put it back on the VASSAL page. When I click Finish my map board(s) comes up and if I place my cursor back on the VASSAL page it is NOT spinning any longer.

My question is: Is my VASSAL/VASL working properly? I would have thought that once the VASL Welcome page comes up the cursor would stop spinning on the VASSAL menu page. It only stops once I have finished a board selection. Is this normal or do I have a problem?

That’s what it does for me, at least.

This is the expected behavior for 3.1.19. Changing it would be quite a
bit of work, unfortunately. This will be fixed in V4 by virtue of being
completely different.

Thanks so very much for your responses and clarification. I was wondering if this might be the case, and it is. I was getting frustrated re-downloading again and again, probably 4 times, and getting ther same performance. Now I know it is OK.

So, off to learn more about the land of VASL.

Thanks again.
