Switching sides in Vietnam 1965-75

We’re playing the Vietnam 1965-75 module on the Vassal server, and I’m the FWA player. I was just browsing one of our save game files between sessions and I noticed that if I switch to referee it reveals all of the VC hidden units. Is this the way it is supposed to be? Is there a way to keep the other side from seeing your hidden units? I have my user name and password set up and I presume my opponent does too. How do we keep each other from becoming referee and seeing hidden values?

Thanks.

Don’t play against people you don’t trust.

There really isn’t any generally effective way to prevent cheating if
someone really wants to cheat, especially when playing by EMail. So you
just need to operate with a certain level of trust in your opponent.

You could edit the module to remove the referee player. You could also
have someone set a password unknown to you for the referee player.

Thanks for the replies. I don’t have any issues with my current gaming partner as far as cheating is concerned. Even the boardgame version of this game relies on the integrity of the players. I was just surprised to see it happen. I guess I didn’t understand how the modue was set up in regards to player access.

As per the rules, the NLF player is allowed to see all of the U.S. player’s pieces, but not the other way around. So if the NLF player started a game as a referee, then switched to NLF, then let the U.S. player join, would that prevent the U.S. player from assuming the referee position?
