Switching to the New Module Library

Hi Charles,

  • BBcode stands for Bulletin-Board code which is used by MediaWiki and the Discourse forum. It is not used in the module library.
  • HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language and is generally used in web-pages. It is not used in the module library.
  • Markdown is a simple Mark-up derived from E-mail practises. Markdown is used in the module library and the Discourse forum. Some hints for the use in the forum is given in How to format forum posts, and some links are given in How to upload modules to the Game Library.

@JoelCFC25 give you a pointer to how to make a Private Message (PM) - also known as Direct Message (DM).

Unfortunately, it is not possible to query the module library for projects owned by a specific user - hopefully that will be changed in the future. However, it seems that you are associated with at least

Please check if any of these old pages have been deemed “problematic” in this post

Take Bitter Woods. Currently, that project is empty because it is one of the old pages that were deemed “problematic”. The old wiki page shows that there are at least 3 distinct module designers for that game (you, Steven Bradford & Kevin Graves, and @WGA-Bill_Thomson). Therefore, the project page needs to be split into at least 3 different projects.

The same was true of Afrika Korps which had 4 different implementations. However, that old Wiki page has been dealt with and split into the projects

(I’m co-owner of Afrika Korps only because I did the splitting of the old Afrika Korps page).

If you look at those project pages, you can get a feel for how - f.ex. - Bitter Woods would need to be handled.

Perhaps you want to get in touch with the other module developers on the old Wiki pages, so that you can coordinate how to best split the projects. Just click the “owner” name on the new project pages and then hit the “Message” to send them a direct message. Note, some users seem inactive - which you can gauge from the “last visited” on their user pages - so you may not get a reply

In your Afrika Korps module, you used an Irregular Grid with Regions to capture the hex locations. If you are about to update that module, you may consider to use the custom code ObliqueHexNumbering as done in for example Afrika Korps Classic Avalon Hill and Afrika Korps.

The modules of Decision Games games can be found on Google Drive. As far as I know, Decision Games has indicated that they would like for those modules not to be posted in the Vassal game library, but perhaps someone has more up-to-date information.

Hopefully the above is of some help to get you started.

Yours,
Christian
