To all,
I just wanted to let you guys know that there’s an interesting KickStarter ending very soon. As “virtual tabletop freaks”, I thought we all would be interested (I have pledged for 4 copies).

To Joel,
If you think my post is inappropriate (I mean, it’s not really Vassal related), please delete my post!

To all,

KickStarter ending very soon. As “virtual tabletop freaks”, I thought we
all would be interested (I have pledged for 4 copies).
I have (at least) two objections to this and projects like them:
-
Real-world physics is a disadvantage of tabletop gaming, not an
advantage. Replicating that in a virtual tabletop is silly.
-
They’re not open-source, so you’ll end up with lock-in and long-
term support problems.
I wouldn’t support something like this unless you think we’re not going
to produce VASSAL 4.

I do think you guys are going to produce VASSAL 4, but in the meantime I will be playing around with the Tabletop Simulator too. And yes, throwing pieces around is indeed a little bit silly…but fun nonetheless!
About the not open-source thing, I am a bit uncertain to what the possibilities are…I will find out when I get the “game”.
