Vassal module for The Battle for Normandy Deluxe Edition beta-version (ver 0.5.0) has been posted. This is a new module that uses the maps, counters, etc. for the Deluxe Edition of the Battle for Normandy (GMT Games, 2024). The beta version contains four scenarios (including the Campaign) and includes maps A-E. Feedback welcome. Make sure to use large heap sizes in the Vassal and module settings.

I really like the way this has been implemented. There are some great features included and it makes a lot of the admin of playing this much easier, which I really appreciate.

One thing I can’t find is the CRT & the chart page with the Replacement, Weather, Armed Recon & Bridge Destruction charts. I have hard copies from my physical copy of the game but it would be great to have these in the module itself if possible. If they are included maybe I’m just not seeing them.

I contacted GMT Games to ask about what they would find allowable for their copyrighted work. They did not provide definitive boundaries, but they implied it would be good to leave out some of the charts so that players would purchase the game. I completely understand that point of view and want to support GMT; the Vassal module of TBfN that pre-dated mine also did not have these. Sometimes you can find images of them on BoardGameGeek or similar sites.

I understand that too. I have a copy of the game so its not a problem for me, just a nice to have.

Sorry for the delay! Planned: absolutely. I’m not sure about the timeframe, though.

I have one question, is the Combat Results Table part of it, I cannot find it anywhere. : )

How do I install the extensions?

Here is the link for installing extensions:

Quick summary: Download the module and the extensions. After you load the main module into Vassal, you right-click on the module in the Vassal module manager and select “Add extension” from the contextual menu. Select the extension you downloaded. It will put the extension into a directory named _ext.
