It happens everytime: with a new game and with a saved one. I have tried
no less than 50 times. Once i could see my hand, but with 16 cards…
and another one we both players could see the american hand.
The player who can’t see his hand is the one who sincronizes. The other
one can see his own hand. If i load or start the game, i see my hand,
but my rival can’t. If my rival start or loads, then it’s me who can’t
see my hand.
This doesn’t happen for me unfortunately. What I’m going to suggest is that we connect at the same time to see what’s going on.
What time zone are you in? What times are good for you?
A friend of mine, who is experiencing the same problem, tried yesterday to play against himself with two different laptops and users. It worked. Yesterday. Not today. Today, one of shows the horrible grey hand buttons
Another question: what do you mean with the “not loggin” suggestion in the quick start? Use only point to point connection insteas of Vassal server? Not use username? I am getting desperate
It says to not use the logging function. It means don’t bother beginning a
logfile as it will result in strange things. Actually, that’s not true, but
I thought it was at the time. I’ll have to fix that comment.

Right now, there is 8 hours between us. I can try to be available at 14.30
your time. If that doesn’t work, I will be in N.S. on Sunday and will be
more flexible then.
I’ll check if you’re on tomorrow. If not, no worries, we’ll try again. My
login is mkiefte or Michael Kiefte.

PD: I would love to travel there, my wife is an absolute fan of the
“Anne of the Green Gables” saga, she had read all the eight books!

I will have Vassal open and will be in a room called “Testing error”. In case i would be out of the keyboard, please, synchronize with me: you can see the error that way. I will have opened an standard game with me playing americans

PD: Thank you very much for you effort. Your module is absolutely outstanding. Is the best job i have seen with vassal: it knows the rules better than me
I just tried it in both French and Spanish and I still don’t see the same problem. It may have been just a coincidence. Try it again in English and then switch to Spanish and see if it makes a difference.
Certainly, you would get slightly erratic behaviour if you were playing different versions of the module.
Have the people you played against ever noticed the same problems with other players? Could there be something wrong with your setup?
When I tested the error with you, i was playing in english and the problem didn’t appear. Then i had the same probleme again playing in Spanish and it fixed changing again into english. That is why i posted the “i thought solution”. Another Spanish player experienced same problem and same solution… java misteries? windows misteries? who knows
