Unable to load latest version of vassal 3.7.15

I have a new MacBook air and running Sequoia 15.3.1 m3 processor with 16GB memory. I get to the part where i am told to “Drag the vassal icon to the applications folder” . Vassal appears in the applications folder - but then on trying to open- it just seems to spend a minute trying to open bouncing in the dock - but then does not open and states " application not responding". I am not very technically minded but i did seem to get it going on my previous 13 year old MacBook pro with older versions of vassal and it just started simply with that one. Asking for some help here thanks. Is it something simple i’m missing here?
David.

Have you read the section in the wiki about startup problems on MacOS?

thank you for the suggestion - i have now gone through these suggestions and don’t think they apply to me. i do not get any pop ups or warnings - i try to open the app in the applications list - it starts bouncing in the dock for around a minute as if it is trying to open - but then stops and says “application not responding.” I am uncertain as to what to do next. thanks for any suggestions.

Managed to get it going. Indeed it was down to the gatekeeper issue and i allowed it to be overridden and Vassal started up normally. Woo hoo. Thanks for the help linking me to the relevant page regarding start up problems
