Vassal 3.2.8 and 3.2.9 issues with Library screeb

In both versions my library of games was seriously reduced down from than 100 titles to about 15 or so (and with no seeming order to the choices). After 3.2.8, I retroinstalled 3.2.7 which restored my library in toto. So it isn’t my computer or the allegation made by some services that I was mistyping my password (ok, I’m venting, sue me).

I should have reported it because it seems nothing was done about this.

Yes, you should have reported it—but the probelm was fixed in 3.2.9.

3.2.8 and later store peferences differently from 3.2.7 and earlier.
3.2.8+ will nondestructively convert the old-style prefs to the new-
style prefs if the new-style prefs don’t exist yet. However, 3.2.8
had a bug which caused prefs to be lost under some conditions. That
bug is fixed in 3.2.9, but there’s no way for us to detect if you
experienced the problem and correct your preferences automatically.

So: If you don’t care about any of the preferences which were written
by 3.2.8 or 3.2.9, you can safely delete the new prefs directory (while
VASSAL is not running). Then, the next time you run 3.2.9, your old
preferences will be converted again.

You can find the prefs directory in the same directory as VASSAL’s
errorLog:

Excellent! Thanks heaps. Now back to my “screeb” (typo result of allergies).
