Control-rightclick does not work and the message is
“VASSAL.app” Not Opened
Apple could not verify “VASSAL.app” is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy. [done] [move to trash]
Usually, control-right click will override this kind thing.
Is there a minimum version of java, or something like that?
You can either do a bypass on a case-by-case basis by going to the Apple menu → System Settings → Privacy & Security and granting an exception for VASSAL (you should be able to do this for up to an hour after the failed app launch).
To add another option to the Privacy & Security pane’s dropdown about where apps are allowed to be from:
sudo spctl —master-disable
…which will prompt you to enter an administrator-level password. After a restart you should see a third option, to allow apps from anywhere.
It would be useful to know if the “download with curl
” trick still works in Sequoia (this avoids setting the quarantine bit on the downloaded DMG).
The “download with curl” definitely worked, thank you! Should have thought of that.
