vassal will not run

I see several other posts on this topic but do not follow the solution.

Vassal has been working fine, I downloaded and installed 3.1.15, and it appeared to install successfully. It did call for an upgraded version of Java.

Now, when I try to run Vassal, even the older versions, nothing happens, no error message, nothing.

I have read several other posts on this same topic, but but cannot determine the solution.

Any help would be appreciated.

What OS are you running? What version of Java?

windows XP version 2002
java version 6 update 23

I uninstalled the latest java
it works again, woohoo!

FYI on this problem:
I am running VISTA Home Premium SP2 and did not have any issues when Java 6 update 23 installed.
