Vlog locked to old PC. Please Help

Hi all,

I’ve recently needed to change from Windows 10 to Linux Mint due to difficulties with Windows 11. I’m perfectly happy with Mint, except that I’m now unable to continue a game of Paths of Glory as AP. When I open a game log, I am only allowed to enter the game as Solitaire or Observer.

I realize that I have registered the module with my gaming handle rather than my name whereas I was using my name in my previous log. Is there a way I can fix this? I remember my previous password, so I should be able to login to my game vlog if this is configured correctly.

Indeed; you can set the password for a module from Preferences (select from File menu) and then find the Personal tab.

If you have more recent PoG vlogs that you started on your new machine, then retire from those first and then you can rejoin them once you’ve changed the password.

Thank you! That worked a charm.

The display name you choose has no bearing on side access at all–the only thing that matters is your password.

Also, despite the presence of both a display name and a password in a module’s preferences, users don’t “log in” to either modules or .vlog files or anything like that. It’s just a check of your module password against the passwords embedded in logfiles/saves to see if you can be automatically slotted into a player side. If yes, it puts you in a side–if not, you’re presented with the “choose a side” dialog.

Hi Joel, Thank you for this information. It sounds like the problem was my password which is consistent with the fact that I discovered that I had not capitalized one of the letters within the password. It is good to know that I am free to change my display name without impact.
