Western Desert module

The listed order for the different versions of this module is not correct. The 1.3.0 version is the most current. The 2.0.0 version of this module belongs under the Older Releases section. It belongs at the bottom, just above the 0.4.0 version. It is that much older than each of the 1.x.x versions.

Is the 2.0.0 release a different module? Or is it in the same series as the others?

Hello,

I am not sure what you are asking so let me give the chronology.

Version 0.4 by Tim M. was the first version of a module for Western Desert. I took version 0.4, made fixes and released version 0.5. ogrebait soon after (2013?) released version 2.0 that might have been based off of 0.4 but I am not sure. I kept making improvements as I learned VASSAL programming better and from my experience playing the module. Over the years, I released versions 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, 0.9, 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3. In addition, I also released a couple of extension files for the Western Desert module. My last releases were 3 years ago. There have been no further releases for the 2.0 version of the module.

A quick look at the two modules to me looks as though these are not the same module family.

Just my opinion but seems like they need to be split.

I’ve split the 2.0 module to its own project:

Hi Rob,

Not sure what “split” means as far as page layout, but both games are for the same GDW game, just different VASSAL designs.

“Split” means that each project has its own page in the module library now.

What he (Uckelman) said.

The new Vassal Library takes a slightly different approach toward project ownership. Instead of a game page hopelessly trying to support numerous confusing different module types with varying version number style, sequence, and builds, the new library allows for multiple versions of the same game to have their own competing pages, also forcing (in a good way) users to follow the same version number format, reducing the level of confusion for players looking for the latest download of their favorite games.
