What do you mean by “dead screen”?
Do you mean that all the modules are grayed out and listed by module file name and a question mark

Where do you store your modules? Are they stored in some temporary storage? E.g., Google Drive, iCloud, OneDrive, USB Drive, or similar?

Can you access these file from Finder? From the terminal?
Perhaps a Screenshot will be in order here. Also, consider to give the content of ~/Application Support/VASSAL/prefs/V_Global - please put ``` before and after so that the content comes out in a more readable format.
