How do you flip counters?

Hello.

I am relatively new to Vassal, so I do apologize if this is blatantly obvious, or if it’s been answered before.

My question is, is how do you horizontally flip the image used on a piece? I’ve tried doing this with layers, but it simply puts the flipped image right over the already existing one. What I’m looking for, essentially, is for a piece to be able to ‘look’ left or right.

Thank you!

in the games I use its: control F
Also, if you right click on the unit - it will give you sevearl options

Hi, Can Rotate or Replace with Other (swapping pieces back and forth from a hidden game piece palette). Try the former first, with 2 facings and Flip for the command clockwise (leaving counterclockwise blank).

Edit: Layer’s actual fine too btw, more than fine actually, but use no default image in your piece, then a layer that’s always active and has 2 levels (representing the flipped images).

You will want to do this with layers.
Try looking at the instructions on page 49 of
vassalengine.org/mediawiki/i … rguide.pdf

Essentially you will want to cycle through the images in a layer, probably
using CTRL-F as the command to do so.

If this isn’t clear enough, then you can look for a module that does this
and look at how it is done there. (There are many of them)
