I was wondering how other people create images of game boards short of begging the publisher or designer for the image. In the past I have put the board on my floor in the best light I can find and photographed it, but I don’t have a tripod, so it won’t be straight up and may be deformed. I’ve also scanned it in pieces, but I find a scanner skews the edges so they don’t match up. It’s so difficult that nowadays, I refuse to do games with hex boards unless I get an image from the publisher.
I notice I could download “stitching” software to piece together images. Is this worthwhile? And for Vassal purposes, is there a best resolution when taking photos or scanning? I typically use 200 dpi.
