I kept running into conflicts with “hot-keys” between what I wanted to use and what are already being used by the VASSAL system or assigned by the VASSAL importer. For example, I tried to use “CTRL H,” but it would not work because it was in use somewhere within the VASSAL program.
I tried to use “CTRL F” for one function, but found out it was already in use for “Flip” by the Importer. Other instances of this happened.
I found it impossible to use keys with combinations reminiscent of the command because so many of the keys I wanted to use were already in use.
I saw in the VASSAL Design Manual where use of the F1-F9 keys was discouraged because of their possible use by computer operating system and “CTRL M” because it is used elsewhere in VASSAL.
So, is there any comprehensive list of those keys and combination of keys that are otherwise owned or used by the VASSAL, Java, or computer operating systems?
I think that there is a feature request for listing the key commands that
are in use in a particular module, but I don’t think that has been built
yet.
