Map and counter resolution

I want to have a higher resolution for the counters than the map resolution. That is, I want to keep the map resolution low at 200 dpi, so that the module size will be kept small, and for the markers I want to have a resolution of 400 dpi, so that there would be more readable information when the counter image is enlarged in the mouse over stack viewer.
Can I set the size of the counters on the map to be scaled down compared to the counter image file that I will import, so that they fit within the map hexes?

Yes, but you would have to leave the counter image in the Basic Piece trait blank, and instead use a Layer trait to hold the counter image; you can specify a scaling factor in the Layer trait.

Thank you! At the moment I don’t understand exactly how it works. This is an unknown field for me. I will see it in practice. I am growing old, always learning.

What I do in in my Paint Program (Corel PaintShopPro 2022 in my case). I save the map in the lower resolution and if PNG Optimize it. Even with bigger maps bigger maps you can have a significant file size reduction and still have “larger” hex and counter sizes.
I try to have my counters between 120 & 200 pixels square.
For Stellar Horizons 2, I started at 172x172 and then added a horizontal extension to 208 pixels (to display variable data)

Here is an in game picture.
I took the original picture of the board (JPG) and saved it at 20 reduction in PSP.
I am not sure technically what the program does, but image size stays the same and resolution (size) gets smaller.
