I tried to install 3.7.4 but, for some reason I canā€™t get it to install it defaults to 3.6.17 and 3.7.5. So here is the Global look.

I havenā€™t been able to replicate that tonight. I have downloaded 3.7.5 again but, didnā€™t lose the modules. I downloaded 3.7.4 and didnā€™t lose anything.

If you canā€™t replicate the problem, thereā€™s nothing further we can do.

What I can do is the next time I have to update VASSAL. I will take some screen shots immediately of the module manager. I am going to go back and copy the command lines you provided so I can navigate quicker.

What does it mean that the modules disappear? When I (also on a Mac) upgrade Vassal, the modules often (always?) disappear from the module list in the app, but obviously not from my hard drive. I simply File/Open each module to get it back into Vassal. Is the Vassal pref file supposed to migrate to each new version? ā€˜Cause that would be pretty nice! If it helps, Iā€™m happy to get online with some screen sharing some time to help - but Iā€™m in New Zealand so coordinating time might be a challenge.

Yes, absolutely. What youā€™re seeing should never, ever happen.

I donā€™t think anything in real-time is requiredā€“basically weā€™ve been periodically trying to suss this out for multiple years and no one with the needed level of technical savvy has stuck with it long enough to complete a diagnosis and find the root cause of this problem. People are just suffering in silence for some reason.

There isnā€™t even a ā€œmigrationā€ in any sense. The preferences file which contains (among other things) the list of modules youā€™ve previously opened is buried deep in your home directory. It doesnā€™t get modified at all when you install a new VASSAL version.
