Multi-Zone Grids - Question and Need to update Reference Manual

When defining a Multi-Zone Grid, it is very likely that some zones will overlap.

Example - Malta is it’s own Zone, but overlaps with the Mediterranean Sea Zone.

If there is are overlapping zones, Vassal appears to pick the FIRST… However, the reference manual doesn’t describe this and almost certainly should as it affects how a module designer orders the zones.

So:

Question: Is what I describe accurate? Are there any exceptions?

Request: Update the reference manual to describe this behavior.

You can have zones within zones. The way Vassal works is the zones above another zone in a map take precedence.

I define ‘land’ zones, then zones that encompasses all, then zones that are sea zones.

The middle zone sets the hex grid. The sea zones have their own grid. Works well, but some workarounds required to determine properties of a lower placed zone.
