Gents,
On the 2 last versions of VASSAL , the OCS Tunisia module (v3.6) only shows black squares where the unit counters should be. If one put the cursor over the stacks, the ‘floating’ view shows the proper counter graphics…
Anyone with a clever idea on how to overcome this?
(This seems to be the only module I have where this is happening)

We’ve had reports of this before with this module, but we’ve never been
able to reproduce it ourselves.
Can you tell me:
what operating system you’re using?
what version of Java you’re using?
what version of VASSAL you’re using? (not “the latest”, I need the exact
version number)

Thus spake “jmlima”:
1- Windows XP - SP1
2- Java 6 - Update 11
There’s a newer version of Java than that (update 13). Try installing
that. (I don’t believe this will make a difference, but it’s worth
trying).
In the Preferences for the module, there should be an option called
‘Disable Direct3D pipeline?’ or something similar. How do you have
that set?

‘Disable Direct3D pipeline?’ is off.

No effect after installing Update 13, or in turning ‘Disable Direct3D pipeline?’ on.
Thus spake “jmlima”:
Did you restart VASSAL after changing that setting? You have to restart
for that one to take effect.

Yes. I even restarted the machine after installing the Java Update 13.
Thus spake “jmlima”:
Are your video drivers current?

As current as drivers for the Radeon 9700 come, yes.
But certainly that shouldn’t make a difference since all other modules work. In my humble opinion, it’s a module related issue.

Does it happen when you open one of the pre-defined scenario setups? So all of the counters are completely black?
I made the module and can’t re-produce either.

Just because it happens with only one module, it doesn’t follow that the
module is the probelm.
Does this happen for you at every zoom level?

Please also check the errorLog. What do you see there after the problem
has happened?

Where is the errorLog file stored?
Thus spake “jmlima”:
It’s in you’re user directory under VASSAL/errorLog. You can also see it
by looking under Help > Show Error Log in the Module Manager.

Do you have “Use high-quality scaling?” on or off?
What happens if you toggle it, and restart VASSAL?

Sorted. That just did the trick, turning it on and re-starting the module.
Many thanks for the help!
