For my final version of the The Burning Blue module, I want to remove the ability to pick more than one instance of the air unit counters, but there should be no restriction for markers.
For each scenario the air units are already on a map - except for the Build Your Own, where I guess I need to create at-start stacks for the counters, and I can remove them from the visible palette, but what would be the best way to be able to pick any number of the markers? I have looked at the palette panel, which can be configured to show each marker separately without a menu, just like I want. It would be a nice solution, but several markers have more than one side, roughly corresponding with how the physical game has different markers on each side. I know how in the physical game one is turning each marker around to find the right, and I I thought that it would be nice for players to be able to see each marker side separately, not just the “front side”.
As I see it, I should create new counters for each marker with front and back layers switched so that the palette can show them all. Is there another method to control how the palette shows the markers?
Alternatively, I could create a map where I place the markers, and have them create a new copy of themselves whenever they are picked. That seems to add an inordinate amount of complication, added to the fact that I would also have to create at-start stacks for the Build Your Own scenario.
