Problem with prototypes

For a given unit, I want to associate several prototypes, each of which is characterized by a set of

different actions, that are performed in different phases of play. I noticed that every time I add a new

prototype, the game slows down more and more. It seems that the Vassal system loads all the prototypes

simultaneously in any moment and not just the prototype used in the current phase of the game.

Is there a way to disable the unnecessary prototypes and enable only the one that is used in the current phase of the game?

that when I had EVERY unit checked when instituting a Global Key command, it really slowed the Vassal down…
