I’ve noticed in some modules I can right click on an empty part of the map and it will center the map on that location. This is much faster and easier than opening the overview window. But in other modules this doesn’t work. Yet my user preferences are the same. Is there something that has to be set up in the module for this feature to work? Thanks

VG Civil War is one example.
Somebody else might have a quicker answer to why some modules do and some don’t right click/center. I looked at the Civil War module and nothing jumped out at me as a reason why it isn’t tracking. I went under the hood of the module and tried a few things. I removed the overview map, and that didn’t affect it. Then I removed the map window entirely, and replaced it entirely with a new map window. No impact.
I suspect this is actually a simple one button fix somewhere in the module, but It’s not ringing a bell for me, yet. I’ll keep looking.

Another module that right-click-to-center doesn’t work is Paths of Glory (although others have said it works for them).
For comparison sake, a module where the right click does work is VG Vietnam.

I believe I have solved it. In the CVW Map window within the vmod, the ‘Can Contain Multiple Boards’ option was checked. If deselected, the Right Click/Center begins to work on the module.
That said, I don’t know how integral the ‘Can contain multiple Boards’ option is to the game setup. Based on what the Vassal definition for the option is below, however. without fully understanding the original module developer’s intentions, it is impossible to determine whether an intended feature is removed. My gut feeling is that it was selected because there are in fact two map boards available for the game, but they are never used simultaneously, so deselecting the option probably doesn’t really change the module’s capability at all. When I reopen the module, it still offers the option to choose between the standard and the extended map.

That certainly looks like we’re on the right track. Unfortunately it didn’t work for me. I deselected that option but still don’t have the right click feature.
Did you exit VASSAL and reload the module before testing?

Yes I exited Vassal, restarted, loaded the game, and refreshed counters.
So it must have something to do with individual computers. I looked through my preferences and didn’t see anything that would affect this. Besides, the VG Vietnam module right click works for me and I’m using the same preferences.
