Supplying a Module for Listing on Vassal

Did you upload the new file? If so, when and what was the filename? I don’t find anything in the moderation log which looks relevant.

He never linked the uploaded file from what I can tell. File already went through

https://vassalengine.org/w/index.php?title=File:Kingmaker_v1.0.1_Guides.vmod&oldid=79473

Looks like my ignorance with the Vassal system - I must have missed the bit that told me I had to link the new file - sorry. Can it be linked to replace the old file in the library or do I need to do something more?

If you mean to overwrite an existing file in the wiki, I think the replacement file must have EXACTLY the same filename–character for character, case sensitivity and all.

If you upload a replacement for an existing file that has a different filename than the original, then you must edit the WikiText of your module page accordingly to link to the new filename rather than the old.

Please do not replace the old file. The new file is a new version. The old file should remain available.

Make an additional entry in the table for the new file.

I’ve made what I think is the correct edit for the new file to be added. I hope they are OK.

I’ve approved the edit.

Thanks a lot, Joel, I appreciate all your help. This weekend, I’ll have a look at the library and see what I can do to help.

During its first week’s availability in the Library, Kingmaker 2023 module received several complaints from BGG members related to my failure to realise I had not logged out of the game set-up sequence correctly when creating the module file (Kingmaker v1.0 Release.vmod). This has required a series of adjustments and minor re-writes to correct. That work is now complete and play-tested and I have uploaded the new VMOD file (Kingmaker v1.2.vmod) for your acceptance.

The old file does not work correctly and, in my view, needs to be deleted from the library along with the minor mod file Kingmaker v1.0.1 Guides.vmod, and to be replaced by Kingmaker v1.2.vmod. I do not know how to do this and would appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.

Old releases should not be removed.

I will tend to adding the new module when I get home later today.

I hear what you say but the Kingmaker v1.0 Release.vmod & Kingmaker v1.0.1 Guides.vmod files do not perform as intended and, in my view, should not be available for download.

Thanks for the offer of speedy action - I am in your hands.

I don’t see that you’ve uploaded any files for the new version. I thought you said that you’d uploaded the new files.

As far as I was aware I uploaded Kingmaker v1.2.vmod just before I notified you that I had done so. Since I find the process of manipulating the Wiki environment to achieve my objective difficult (my fault, I’m sure) I am not altogether surprised that we’re experiencing this issue.

Should I now attempt a second upload or is there something else I should do first?

What is the exact filename of the file you tried to upload?

Kingmaker v1.2.vmod

I find nothing in the logs for that file. I think you didn’t succeed at uploading it. Try again and let me know when you have.

File uploaded

I approved your edit to the module page, but I don’t see that any file was uploaded. How are you trying to upload the file?

I cut-and-pasted a block which included the name of a previously-submitted file and simply changed the details to encompass the new file to give this:
== Files and Module Information==
{{ModuleFilesTable2}}
{{ModuleFile2|filename=Kingmaker v1.0 Release.vmod|description=.vmod|date=2024-05-10|size=243112Kb|compatibility=|maintainer=Mike Oliver|contributors=Adrian Oliver}}
{{ModuleFile2|filename=Kingmaker v1.0.1 Guides.vmod|description=.vmod|date=2024-05-12|size=243880Kb|compatibility=|maintainer=Mike Oliver|contributors=Adrian Oliver}}
{{ModuleFile2|filename=Kingmaker v1.2.vmod|description=.vmod|date=2024-11-16|size=244199Kb|compatibility=|maintainer=Mike Oliver|contributors=Adrian Oliver}}
|}
I then clicked on “Save Changes” and received a notice saying the file had been submitted. The result is:

.

What you’ve described is editing the module page, not uploading the module.

To upload the module, you can click on the link for the new module.
